Scenic Rivers Land Trust's 13th Annual

Walk for the Woods

Saturday, April 28, 2018

 7:00am - 3:00pm

We're excited to once again partner with AAC Dept. of Recreation and Parks to host a day of guided hikes and public access to the Bacon Ridge Natural Area. We hope you can join us for a wonderful, relaxing day of enjoying our local woods! As in years past, we will have a variety of guided hikes, including bird watching, amphibian searches, and naturalist hikes scheduled throughout the day. We will also have ongoing programs, like "Critters Discovery" down by the stream, and "Say My Name" remembering those in the Crownsville Hospital Cemetery.

Walk for the Woods is an event to celebrate families exploring the outdoors, the beautiful Bacon Ridge Natural Area, and the power of land protection to provide quality of life, wildlife habitat, and Chesapeake Bay and River health. Scenic Rivers Land Trust has been promoting the protection of, and public access to, Bacon Ridge Natural Area for over a decade. This 900+ acre area is the centerpiece of the South River Greenway, a rare 4,000+ acre area of intact forest in Anne Arundel County. People who can enjoy and care about this vital forest, we believe, will help with its protection.

Free admission! Celebrate Earth Day with us. Come for an hour or stay for the whole event. Go on a guided hike or wander through the trails on your own.Donations are welcomed, and will support Scenic Rivers Land Trusts work to protect the natural and scenic landscapes of Anne Arundel County. Donations are fully tax deductible.

A little bit of information about the area: These will be unpaved trails, and often very hilly terrain. Parking will be on a grass field.

Dogs are welcomed AFTER 10am, but they need to stay on a leash. Bike riding is not permitted at this event.
