Who We Are

The Scenic Rivers Land Trust is a private, non-profit, non-governmental body chartered as a 501(c)(3) corporation in 1988 for the purpose of protecting land through voluntary land preservation agreements and educating landholders on issues of conservation and stewardship.

The Scenic Rivers Land Trust accepts conservation easements within Anne Arundel County, Maryland. Our focus is the Severn, South, Patuxent, Rhode, and West River watersheds. We work cooperatively with the Maryland Environmental Trust (MET) as an authorized partner. As a partner organization, MET provides incredible expertise and mentoring, and their presence as a co-holder on larger easements offers landowners additional state tax credits. SRLT is also in compliance with the Standards and Practices of the national Land Trust Alliance.

We are governed by a volunteer Board of Directors that is representative of our focus watershed areas. The Board of Directors meets quarterly in Annapolis. The Trust employs an Executive Director, a Conservation Director, and Communications Coordinator a Conservation Director, and Communications Coordinator and relies on volunteer support from a variety of experts in the land trust and management fields. An Honorary Board also exists to provide advice and assistance with special projects.

Scenic Rivers Land Trust is supported through donations from individuals and corporations and grants from public and private foundations.
