WALK IN THE WOODS 2008

Bird walk groups lead by David Curson, Director of DC/Maryland Audubon Chapter and Dan Haas, AACo Bird Club and SRLT Board Member, were the first out on the trails Saturday morning. See a list of some of the birds sighted below.
A thoughtful speech on land preservation by Director of AACo Recreation and Parks Frank Marzucco was given to those that gathered at 9 am. AACo Ranger Adam Smith then led a nature walk that focused on the plants and birds of the area. The almost 2 mile long hike led walkers to a beaver pond full of breathtakingly beautiful bright green lilies.

Also of great interest to those in attendance were tours of the historic Crownsville hospital cemetery given all morning by local historian and columnist with the Capital/Gazette Newspaper Janice Hayes William.
These are just a few of the many walk highlights enjoyed by participants throughout the day.
For more details on the human history of this property, Audubon IBA bird surveys, 2008 Walk Sponsors and more please see details and links below.

Thank you again to all connected with this walk for your concern for local lands and support of SRLT!
