Join the Scenic Rivers Land Trust for an informal discussion on:

²Opening public access to Bacon Ridge Natural Area;
²How protecting your land can provide property, income and estate tax benefits; and
²Advocating the use of Forest Conservation Act funds for providing cash incentives to preserve forest lands.

SRLT has special interest in the South River Greenway (the headwaters of the South River). We hold the easement on the county’s 1000-acre Bacon Ridge Natural Area, which you may know from our annual Walk for the Woods held on this scenic parcel.

Come to our Happy Hour to learn about:

The intricacies of conservation easement, which isa legal agreement between a landowner and a land trust to preserve the conservation values of private landssuch as forests, scenic vistasandwildlife habitat. Easements may allow significant  propertyincome and estate tax deductions. For more information visit, or come meet us for a cold drink and snacks; we will be happy to fill you in.
Wwould like help in advocating the use of Forest Conservation Act (FCA) funds to purchase conservation easements from landowners; however, we need to know the potential interest in this approach. Come learn how other landowners have realized significant tax savings and preserved their private lands for successive generations.

We will be offering complimentary light fare and drinks.
